Oxygen therapy

The oxygen tank used to provide oxygen therapy for up to 6 people a session

Our oxygen therapy chamber sits up to six people per one hour session.

We offer oxygen therapy in a special chamber which is lightly pressurised with air to 1.5, 1.75 and 2 atas (equivalent water depths of 16, 24 and 33 feet).

People with MS can benefit from breathing pure oxygen at these higher pressures: a higher concentration of oxygen can be absorbed, providing relief from symptoms such as fatigue, sensory perception problems, poor balance and mobility issues, bladder control, incontinence and even speech problems. It is offered by many MS Therapy Centres around the UK, including ours.

“If I don’t come here for a couple of weeks, I notice I have flare-ups, so I definitely notice a difference in my condition.” — Karen, member

Oxygen therapy is also an accepted treatment for other medical conditions, such as burns, carbon monoxide poisoning, decompression sickness (the bends), infections, and radiation-induced tissue injury. It has also been used to aid recovery from sports-related injuries.

Our chamber, located at our Centre in northwest London, sits up to six people per one hour Centre deputy manager and a volunteer operator start an oxygen sessionsession. During initial sessions pressure may be varied to suit different needs, and all responses are carefully monitored and recorded by trained assessors.

“When I first came I didn’t like the noise and the sounds of the oxygen, it just felt a little strange, but you get very used to it very quickly. You can listen to music, read a magazine and have treatment the same time.” — Carol, member
