The Lions Club of Kenton, courtesy of one of our members, organised a fundraising Concert for Vivienne, by the very popular Harrow Apollo Male Choir, in aid of Harrow MS Therapy Centre and Alderbourne Rehabilitation Unit Hillingdon.
Over 60 people came along to Pinner Methodist Church and enjoyed the choir, accompanied by Avis Gerry on the piano, singing many well-known songs, including some from West End shows.
There was also a delightful interlude when Stephen the pianist played Comptine D’un Autre Ete, by Yann Tiersen (from the film Amelie), and Gnossienne Number 1 in F minor by Eric Satie.
Light refreshments were provided during the interval, after which our manager Lynn Hurst and consultant Dr Ajoy Nair from Alderbourne Unit gave brief talks about how such events are invaluable in raising much-needed funds.
The evening raised over £1,000, which was divided between the two beneficiaries.
Our thanks go to Vivienne and Alan Raggett for arranging the concert, to Pinner Methodist Church for the free use of their lovely building and especially to the Harrow Apollo Male Choir who gave their services free and provided a wonderful evening of music.
