Race Night a Runaway Success

The recent Race Night at  The Pinner Arms was a lively and noisy success, as young and not-so-young cheered on their chosen steeds on the big screen to raise a total of £700.

Bets were placed thick and fast, and winnings gleefully collected from Lynn and Linda — the “Tote Totties” — while Jerry the commentator called, “They’re off!”

We were extremely pleased to have sold all the horses in the lead-up to the event, meaning the top prize up for grabs was the full £300. The final race was won by The Old Bag, owned by Jeunesse McTigue.

A raffle run by Gill O’Brien, chair of the Fundraising Committee, brought in extra revenue and the final takings came to £700.

Our thanks to all who participated, both on the day and by buying horses, and to the proprietors of The Pinner Arms who once again gave us the use of their excellent function room.
